Are you enough?

Hello Fellow Homeschooling Mamas,
Happy Spring! For those of us currently homeschooling, we’ve almost made it another whole year! That is no small feat! I think I look forward to summer more than my kiddos. As a homeschooling mom, I’m so thankful for the amount of time I get to be with my kids during the school year in learning, deep connection, and conversations around the homeschool table AKA our dining room table; but, I also really love to throw school out the window and just have fun in the sun! Anyone else itching to just plant themselves in the sand this summer?
The question I was asked to answer is, “How am I enough for my kids?” My personal beliefs and thoughts on this far out way the fluffy answer of “You are enough.” Personally, I feel convicted to share that you (myself included) are not enough for our children. Our children were made for God, and only He can satisfy them fully. “If we try to fill the role of “savior” in their lives, not only will they be crushed under the weight of impossible expectations, but we will hinder the need for our children to run to Christ themselves.”
So my simple answer is: No, you are not enough for your children, but Christ is.
We are all flawed humans, but we continue to strive to give it our best. Homeschooling and mothering is a gift. Even on the hard days, we remember that we were specifically given these children to love on, teach, and raise up. When we mess up, we teach them how to ask for forgiveness by asking THEM for it and modeling a heart of humility. When we feel insufficient, we can rest in the sufficiency of Christ. He will catch us, restore us, grow us, shape us, and coach us in who we were made to be as their teacher, but most importantly, their Mama.
xoxo,
